Tap to create a new puzzle, pick a photo from your library (or take one with the camera), and choose a piece count. Piece of Mind cuts your picture into interlocking jigsaw pieces and drops you onto the board.
Pieces wait in a scrolling tray at the bottom, with a “view all” gallery when you want to see them together. Tap a piece to send it to the board, then drag it to its spot — when it lands, it snaps into place with a sparkle and a gentle haptic. Behind the board is a faint reference ghost. In Easy there is no clock at all and the on-board aids are yours whenever you want them: Peek for a glance at the finished picture, Highlight to pick the loose pieces out of the board, and Hint to be shown where one piece belongs. As you go, the app marks the moments worth marking, like the frame closing or the halfway point. Finish the picture and a quiet celebration plays.
Difficulty is just how many pieces you want: 60, 120, 240, 400, or 600. The grid adapts to each photo’s aspect ratio, so wide and tall pictures each get a layout that lands near your chosen count while keeping the pieces pleasantly square.
Easy is untimed, with the on-board aids available. Medium and Hard put the solve on a countdown and hide the aids, so it is just you and the picture. The countdown scales with the puzzle, so a 600-piece board gets far longer than a 60-piece one. If it runs out, a Time’s Up screen closes the attempt.
Yes. Each solve is recorded as a tiny move log, so you can replay it afterwards, scrub through it or change the speed, and export it as a video to share. Recording is on by default and can be switched off in Settings under “Record replays”. The log stays on your device.
Yes. Settings has a surface for the board (paper by default) and one for the tray (warm oak by default), plus darker options for when a photo is very light or very dark. On iPad the tray docks as a side column, and Settings can move it to the left if that suits your hands better.
Only the picture you pick. When you choose a photo (or take one), the app copies that single image into its own on-device storage to build the puzzle. Your photos never leave your device, aren’t uploaded anywhere, and aren’t shared with anyone. See the Privacy Policy for details.
No. There are no ads, no analytics, and no accounts, and the app makes no network calls. Your puzzles, progress, and settings live only on your device.
No. Piece of Mind is fully playable offline with no sign-up.
Yes. Your piece positions, statuses, and elapsed time are saved automatically, so you can close the app mid-puzzle and resume exactly where you left off. Because each puzzle is generated deterministically from its photo, a resumed puzzle looks identical to when you started it.
Yes. When you complete a puzzle you can share the finished image from the completion screen, or later from the long-press menu on the puzzle’s card on the Home screen.
Yes. Sound effects, background music, and haptics each have their own toggle in Settings, and all three start on. Sound effects are the piece sounds: the drop, the snap, the cutting sweep, and the completion fanfare. Music is a calm loop that plays only while you are solving, and it stays quiet on its own if you already have something else playing. There is also a “Play aids” toggle if you would rather not be offered Peek, Highlight, and Hint at all.
Piece of Mind requires iOS 18.0 or later and runs on both iPhone and iPad.
Yes. There are no in-app purchases and no subscription.
Deleting a puzzle removes its saved progress and the imported picture it used. Deleting the app removes everything Piece of Mind has stored on your device.
